It was a pleasant surprise to expereince the short trip org. by the operator: Great Escapes!
When i booked the package at the kerala State Tourism Dept. office at Chennai, i was informed that the tour will be organised by Great EscapesI was bit upset as i thought that the tour will be org. by KSTDC and wondered how this Operator will be. But Ms. Ramalakshmi at the reception assured me that that nothing to worry
As soon as i reached Ernakulam I was received by mr. Prajeesh Kumar, a pleasant gentleman and he explained about the tour and also introduced the driver Mr. Aghozh Kumar. In fact mr. Prajeesh kumar was in touch with me from the previous day!
The stay at the House Boat was a memorable one. The crew consisting of the Captain, Chef and the helper ( forgot their names) were very polite and obliged our requests with a pleasant smile. This boat looked much better and well furnished that the previous ones which i engaged.
The food served was vry delicious and the boat was very cleanwhich includes the toilet.
The stay at KTDC Samudra at Kovalam was excellent. its located at a vantage point from where you can have a beautiful view of the Arabian Sea (and in few minutes, one can reach the beach) with well maintained Grden as well as rock garden. The room was very clean, spacious. The beach, swimming pool and the lush green garden can be reached from the room. i enjoyed sipping bed coffee early morning. The breakfast was very good with wide varity of items both continental and local ones. The entire property was very well maintained and very clean and the staff were vry polite and courtious. its surprising that a Government run hotel can run much better than a private ones which includes a 5 star hotel in the same area! The credit goes to the entire team right from top....
This short trip was organised as my friend from UK, heard so much about God's Own Country especially the House Boat. She was excited with everything and was really delighted and i felt relieved more than feeling happy. So the credit goes to the tour operator and sure will recomd Great Escapes to any one and there is a every likelyhood of organising a similar one with a Group-thats what my friend said! Keep it up

We visited India for 3 weeks during August 2018 with Great Escapes (The Great Indian Tours). Great Escapes was recommended to us by a work colleague. We gave them a list of places that we wanted to visit and they put together a personalised itinerary for us, and added some extra delightful places in too based on their local knowledge. We travelled down the west side of Tamil Nadu from Chennai to Kanyakumari at the tip of India, and back up the east side of Kerala to Kochi, and then flew north to travel from Udaipur to Delhi via Jaipur, Jodhpur and Agra. Some very memorable highlights of our trip were Kanyakumari, which lies on the southernmost land tip of India, where the Arabian Sea, the Indian Ocean, and the Bay of Bengal meet. This was one of my favourite places in India. I will not forget the beautiful beaches and the spectacular sunrises and sunsets at the place where 3 oceans and seas meet, it was an amazing experience and the photos don't do the scenery justice. Absolutely stunning!. Also the unique and fascinating site near Mahabalipuram that had temples carved into the rock face and a large suspended rock called “Krishna’s Butterball" and a good tale as to how it got there. Throughout the holiday we visited places that made traditional wares. At a traditional local weaving place, we learnt the art of weaving pashmina's first hand, silk painting, carpet weaving and precious stone work which were very enjoyable experiences as well educational. The Ranakpur Jain Temple in the north of India near Jodhpur was one of the most peaceful places on Earth that it has been my pleasure to visit. This stunning temple is set in a nature reserve in the hills, within which we saw some spectacular wildlife on the way there and back. Apparently, there are Tigers and Hyenas in the forests there too but they were rather shy on the day. The Taj Mahal exceeded all my expectations. It was absolutely superb. The daily local tour guides provided by Great Escapes throughout the tour were extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and made the sightseeing really fun as well as very informative. Great Escapes provided a personal chauffeur who was an excellent driver, and this enabled us to visit places easily, and go to stunningly beautiful sites in remote areas off the tourist track. Customer Service was fantastic. The Great Escapes team are professional, friendly, helpful, and very knowledgeable, they went the extra mile to make our holiday really special, fun and a very memorable one. Overall, the whole tour was absolutely amazing, we had a fantastic holiday, staying in luxury hotels and the sightseeing experience was out of this world. We were really looked after, and would highly recommend Great Escapes as a tour company to anyone looking to travel in India.

It was our First tour to Kerala and its wonderful!!
We got a reference from our friends who already visited Kerala via Great Escapes. So We have also booked the and got the Tour Planned with Great Escapes. Kerala as a Location is Awesome as its "God's Own Country" which is true in all sense. It was a 6N/7D Tour, We have Landed at Kochi and moved to Munnar then Thekkady, Alleppy and Finally Poovar (Near Trivandrum). All locations are great.
Day -1 : Kochi to Munnar, In Munnar we have visited Hydel Park, Tea Museum and Munnar Town. Journey from Koch to Munnar was very good. We have chosen Hotel Green Ridge in Munnar which is an average hotel, its near church and they wake you up early morning with bells and Songs. So Please avoid this hotel.
Day-2 : Day was very exciting, We have visited Mattupetty dam, Echo point, Top Station, Rose Garden, Cactus Garden. Boating in Kundala Lake was an awesome Experience. Fluorescent Velvet green Tea Gardens make this place out of the world. I rate this Day as 5 Star day.
Day-3 : We moved from Munnar to Thekkady at 9:30.. This way is hilly with lot of turns so recommendation is the Have light Breakfast and keep necessary medicines if you suffer from Sickness on Mountain Roads.
On the way we have visited Spice Garden in Thekkady and took some good amount of Spices which are of good quality and very cheap in comparison to Alleppy, Trivandrum. The best thing was we have visited Persian Elephant Safari .. Where we had bath while Sitting on Elephant. This was a 5Star Experience for us. We reached Hotel Grand Thekkady around 13:30 which is near to the Bus Station for Periyar Reserve, It is a good hotel Value for money.
We booked the bus for Periyar Tiger reserve but they told that Boat safari in Periyar Lake is full.. :-( But we still took the chance and reached the boat station .. by the grace of GOD we got 4 tickets due to cancellation of online booking. :-).
Boating in Periyar lake is an Awesome Experience, We could spot Deer, Jackal, Buffalos, One Elephant, Snake Birds, Turtle, Water Dogs.... I was so impressed with the Nature's beauty that I have visited the Lake for next day morning 730 Boat Safari also.
One more thing to note that I could not find any person who saw tiger in last few years.. so please dont go there with the expectation of seeing Tiger...
Day -4 : I woke up at 530, moved to bus station by 6, I was one of the first few passenger... Boarded to 7:30 Boat in the lake ... Morning beauty of the lake was amazing. This time we could not spot much wild life .. other than lots of birds.... but lake with mist and sun rays were ethereal. Reached Back to hotel by 9 and moved to Alleppy by 9:30.
We reached Alleppy by 14:00, Checked in to the boat.... "Relax in Kerala"
Boat was good though it was not very Clean... But the hospitality of staff was 5Star. They were hindi speaking, they prepared Excellent Vegetarian Food and served with smile. In the afternoon Boat keep roaming and we enjoyed the Scenic beauty on the Deck.... Enjoyed Tea and took pictures.... It was back to the shore by 18:00. Air Conditioners were ON by 20:30. Generator Sound was stopped and we had Good Dinner. House boat stay in Alleppy is a great experience one must have it if you visit Kerala.
Day -5 : We had breakfast by 830 on the boat, Boat took us to the check out station by 9. We started From Alleppy to Poovar around 915. We reached Poovar by 15:00.
Driver took us to Boating Station where we booked Boat for Poovar back water cruising in 2500/- for 4 people... As driver told that Boating from Hotel is very costly.. While when we checked in the hotel they said its 1500/- for 6 people... So pls check the rates before booking the Boat.
We Checked in to "Estuary Island Resort" at 15:30. This is a great property. We started for boating at 16:30 .. it moved through Mangrove forest and around Estuary Island. Had an Awesome Sunset at Poovar.. Beach was unimaginably Clean... Water was Blue Green..
Day-6 : We went to Zoo / Napier Museum/ Art Gallery .. this was ok as Day was very hot and kids were drained out. We have done some Spice Shopping and Lunch at Sarvana Bhavan. Moved to Sri Padmanabha Temple by 16:30.... Driver took us to the Saari Shop as you need to comply the Dress Code of the temple. We spent around 1100/- to buy the dress for myself/Spouse and Kids. But we discovered that Dhoti were available in 60/- at the entry gate of temple. so be careful of what your driver tells you.
Padmanbha Swami temple was great ... We purchased 250/- Seva Ticket. which is for two person. this ensure darshan better and shorter Queue. Reached Hotel in Poovar around 19:00.
Day- 7 : Enjoyed Hotel, Checked out around 14:00. Moved to Kovalam Beach for short visit ... its really beautiful... Moved to Airport around 16:00Hrs.
Thanks to Binu from Great Escape for all your support !!!!

Great Escapes built a custom tour around an itinerary I provided to them, for Kerala. They gave me good hotels according to my requirements, helping me maximize my sightseeing and photography. Ms. Binu helped and suggested the best hotels.
The tour representative for the trip, Mr. Jaison, ensured a smooth trip throughout. The driver was well mannered, friendly and knew where he was going. There was just one minor blip on the day of a statewide strike on fuel prices, but Mr Jaison ensured it didn't happen again.
All in all, I would definitely tour with them again.

Me and my husband recently had the pleasure of visiting and having a wonderful time in Kerala thanks to Great Escape. We were in contact with Ms Meera Ramachandran for the customization of the tour. We had thousands of questions as we wanted to avoid any kind of unpleasant surprises and she answered each and every query of us with utmost courtesy. We exchanged innumerable mails and on all occasions they were prompt. Each interaction with her was great, responsive and very knowledgeable on what to see in Kerala.
The trip, itself, through Munnar, Thekaddy, Alleppey, Kovalam and Trivandrum was wonderful. The hotels booked were were decent and provided a comfortable stay. Great Escape is doing a great job in showing what great customer services is all about. Most importantly there were no unpleasant surprises and only sweet memories that we took from this trip.
Thank you for the wonderful trip!

We found Great Escapes enlisted as a recognozed tour operator on the Kerala tourism website and got in touch with Mr. Prajeesh for organizing an 8 nights/9 days Kerala tour for our family. Mr. Prajeesh understood our travel requirements and proactively organized the entire itinerary within a matter of few days. The whole process was hassle free and smooth. Even after we reached Kerala, from the airport pickup, to the hotels, driver, transportation etc.everything was perfect and added to the whole Kerala trip experience. During the trip, Mr. Prajeesh kept in regular touch with us to ensure we were not facing any issues. Based on the trip organized, we would highly recommend Great Escapes to everyone for their trip plans.

I have planned Kerala tour for my family including my in-laws and that makes all the importance. We are from Bangalore and I have found the Great Escapes from the Kerala Trourism website among many other tour operators and has emailed them my plan. The plan details were emailed quickly while the responses from other operators took few days and some have never bothered to respond.
This has made me consider the Great Escapes and started discussing about our interests and preferences. We are not budget bound but have the high priority for Good accommodation and Good Transportation. The same was communicated to the travel executive Ms. Meera and she has sent me the details accordingly. I have made few change requests and all those were accomodated with some variation in the cost which was not much.
Our trip to Kerala was a long one 7 D 8 N package and with entire family travelling, it is a really big challenge for any tour operator and was managed very well by Great Escapes right from the day 1 to the end. Ms. Bina who is the owner of the company has put extra efforts to keep our stay comfortable by upgrading our rooms in Kanyakumari and I really thank her.
I feel that every tourist (individual and group) will have their own choices, taste and preferences and if the tour operator can understand those things better, they would be able to provide the right ingredients in the package.
I would definetely recommend them for any of my friends and contacts and also to my self in future.
